Free Art Experience for Children 9-12 Years Old
The Inclusion Center for Community and Justice (ICCJ) is a nonprofit organization that is based in Salt Lake City and traces its history to the 1920s. Using human relations as a foundation, ICCJ creates opportunities to explore difficult social issues. ICCJ works together with the community to understand—and counter—the dynamics of exclusion. ICCJ strives to support the community through engagement, respect, concern, empathy and understanding.
In partnership with Goldman Sachs, ICCJ and its youth Ambassadors will facilitate the inaugural Salt Lake City Student Art Project entitled Our World(s). The goal of this project is to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for diversity and inclusion in our shared community.
Through the use of various creative media, ICCJ’s signature methodology, and collaborative workshops, the program will provide opportunities for supportive teamwork, diversity of thought, and creative expression. Under the guidance of the local artist and educator, and with the support from the youth Ambassadors, the participants will create unique art pieces that will reflect a stronger sense of both identity and community, as well as growing understanding of diversity and inclusion in the Salt Lake City community.
To extend the message of the project to the greater community, the artworks will be placed on banners and displayed downtown in the summer of 2018.
