What is an Inclusion Summit?
It's an immersive and deep-impact human-relations conference for adults facilitated near Salt Lake City by the ICCJ sometimes in conjunction other community partner facilitators. Participants are given the opportunity to explore difficult social issues and how they affect our communities, homes, classrooms and workplaces. Often adult participants arrive for professional development, personal growth or continuing education, but leave as stronger networkers and change agents.
Each of us has room to grow in order to better relate to individuals who make up our diverse communities. Using human relations as a foundation, participants at the Inclusion Summit will be challenged to understand the dynamics of exclusion, and in so doing, recognize the humanity in all of us. At the Inclusion Summit, participants are encouraged to maintain their individuality and values, while still identifying with others who may be different, reminding each of us to be humankind.
What is Human Relations?
A process, not a result
Conversations on multiculturalism are often seen as little more than an attempt at Political Correctness or a quick fix to addressing cultural differences. Because of this, we often miss a deeper message that pertains to all of us. The goal is not to learn the buzz words of the day, or for one group to teach another. Human Relations is a process of interaction and engagement that requires self reflection coupled with an authentic desire to understand others and relate to them as human beings.
